J&K Government focuses on areas in rural Kashmir to control pandemic

Amid the rise in Covid-19 cases in Rural Kashmir, J&K Government has pulled up their socks and directed for speeding up testing so that the early detection of cases can be done.

Currently over 80% cases are active which are outside the Srinagar district which is highest till date of second wave.

As per official figures, till June 1, Srinagar district had 4057 active cases, other districts in Kashmir had 16990 cases. So in order to bring the cases down the speeding up of testing is must. The Health department has been instructed to speed up the testing process.

Atal dullo, Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education said that testing and contact tracing were primarily focused in many districts of Kashmir.

As per an order issued by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir PK Pole, 15400 Rapid Antigen Test kits and 4770 Viral Transport Mediums (VTM) for RT-PCR tests will be provided in a day in the division.

Srinagar district will get 3000 RAT kits, 600 VTM kits whereas Baramulla will be provided with 2000 RAT kits and 600 VTM kits, Anantnag with 1300 RAT kits, 500 VTM kits and Budgam with 2000 RAT kits and 600 VTM kits.

Each panchayat Covid-19 care centre has been directed to carry out 5 to 10 RAT centres.

Senior official said that action will be taken against those who violates the Covid-19 guidelines.
