J&K: ITBP jawan opens fire upon three colleagues before killing himself

On Saturday, an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawan shot his three co-workers before killing himself at a camp in the Udhampur area of Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials. The unfortunate event took place at the district’s Devika Ghat community centre at about 3:30 p.m.

According to a senior ITBP official, Constable Bhupendra Singh fired at his coworkers, wounding a head constable and two other constables. They have been admitted to a hospital and are safe, he claimed. Later, according to him, Constable Singh killed himself with the INSAS service rifle.

He was a member the 8th battalion of the force and was currently assigned to the the “F” company of the 2nd ad-hoc battalion of the ITBP stationed in Jammu and Kashmir. The border guarding force has called for a court of inquiry, the official added.
