J&K: Light to moderate rain in next two days, predicts MeT

On Wednesday, weather forecasters projected two days of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in Jammu & Kashmir.

A meteorological department official told a news outlet that light to moderate rain/thunderstorm is likely at numerous parts of Jammu & Kashmir for next 1-2 days.  According to the official, Kupwara received 3.6 mm of rain, Gulmarg received 0.5 mm, and Bhaderwah received 2.1 mm, while Jammu received traces of rain within the last 24 hours up to 8:30 am today.

Compared to the previous night’s low of 18.7°C, Srinagar reported a low of 18.8°C. The official reported that the temperature was 0.7°C higher than usual for the summer capital at this time of year. A low of 11.5°C was recorded in the well-known Gulmarg resort, which was 0.3°C warmer than average for the area. According to the official, the low temperature in Kupwara town was 16.1°C, down from the previous night’s 17.1°C, which was 0.3°C “below” average for this time of year.

The winter capital of J&K, Jammu, witnessed a low of 27.2°C, 2.4°C warmer than average, he added. According to the official, the minimum temperatures in Banihal (18.4), Batote (19.7), Katra (23.8°C), and Bhadarwah (20.1) were all below normal.
