A team of Doctors of District Hospital Udhampur conducted another painless knee replacement surgery here under ayushman Bharat scheme.
The surgery team was headed by Dr Balvinder Singh orthopaedic surgeon, who is trained in knee and hip replacement from Germany.
The team comprised Dr Prakash Atri Consultant Anaesthesia and paramedic Santosh Singh & Mahesh. The entire process was done under the supervision of Dr K C Dogra Chief Medical Officer, Dr Vijay Raina , Medical superintendent DH Udhampur who provided all logistic and moral support.
The operated patient was a 54 year old female – a case of severe osteoarthritis with painful left knee and difficulty in walking. Patient was from a humble background and was not in condition to go to any private setup as knee replacement surgery is a very costly affair.
After admission her Ayushman card was generated & registered under PMJAY. The procedure involved total knee joint replacement and High flex knee replacement was done which means she will be able to sit cross legged and will do her all routine activities.
