It’s been four months that the Higher Education Department has not been able to finalize the recruitment rules after forwarding 396 posts of Assistant Professors and Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) in government colleges to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).

As per reports, in February 2021, the Higher Education Department had forwarded 396 posts which included 344 posts of Assistant Professors for Government Degree Colleges whereas 52 posts of Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) to JKPSC for making recruitment against the posts.

Later a letter was also forwarded by the Higher Education Department to JKPSC for holding back the selection procedure, as the recruitment rules would be finalized by the Higher Education Department.

According to the letter forwarded to JKPSC, the Higher Education Department was in the process of finalizing the Gazetted Recruitment Rules, based on University Grants Commission (UGC) revised guidelines issued on 18/7/2018.

In the letter it was claimed that the department was in the final stage of finalizing the rules for recruitment but as per reports four months are on, still the rules are not finalized.

An official of JKPSC said that since the last four months the JKPSC has been waiting for the rules from the Higher Education department. Further he said that the procedure will start as soon the rules are forwarded to JKPSC.
