The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) is yet to wrap up recruitment process for the posts of Assistant Professors in various subjects even after 3 years have passed.

The JKPSC ran an advertisement on 27 October, 2017 for inviting applications for posts of Assistant Professors of various subjects in the department of Higher Education. Department has completed recruitment process in some subjects. However, recruitment is yet to done for eighty six posts in the subject of English and five posts in the subject of Urdu.

Aggrieved candidates who had applied for the posts said that the JKPSC authorities would tell them that the process is in its final stage every time they contacted them even though process is yet to conclude.

An aspirant said that other candidates who were selected in other subjects through the same notification have joined the department many months before but candidates in English subject have been asked to wait further. This delay by JKPSC in the recruitment process will also negatively affect career of these candidates as they will fall below in the seniority list when they’ll join the department.

Another aspirant complained that because of lethargetic functioning of JKPSC many highly qualified youth have to wait for years. They demanded that the government should take note of the matter and set a time frame for recruitment process.

A JKPSC employee said that delay in the recruitment process was caused by technical problems after the abrogation of Article-370. The JKPSC had to be reconstituted and some other modifications were also brought into reconstituted Commission, as a result of which this delay occurred. He also assured that recruitment process for posts of English is almost over and will be concluded soon.
