JMC launches sanitation drive for heritage place in Jammu

Jammu Municipal Corporation in its continuous efforts to ensure sanitation in Jammu City, launched a sanitation drive under Swachhata Pakhwada 2021 initiative in Mubarak Mandi Complex, Jammu wherein Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta, Dy. Mayor, Adv. Purnima Sharma, Chairman, Public Health and Sanitation Standing Committee, Narinder Singh, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Raghav Langar (IAS) and Commissioner, JMC, Avny Lavasa (IAS), Health Officer, Dr. Sanjogita Soodan participated.  Under the drive, Stretch, Spots surrounded with waste & Bushes were cleared/ cleaned. Prominent Citizens of Society, NSS Volunteers and sanitation staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation took part in the drive in order to create awareness of cleanliness among masses. Various slogans were designed to bring focus to the core concerns of the Swachh Bharat campaign like Ban of Plastic, Use of Dustbins and Keeping the Public places clean.

Mayor stated on the occasion stated JMC is implementing scheme regarding plastic lao thala payo in every ward of Jammu for which children are being involved as the children is the future of the nation and their participation is vital in the sanitation drives and added that such drives spread the message of Swachh Bharat Mission in the entire city.

The Commissioner, JMC while speaking on the occasion stated that the aim of launching sanitation drive is to give extra focus in sanitation point of view and Mubarak Mandi has been chosen for today’s sanitation drive, as this is a iconic monument of the Jammu City and cleaning this monument will spread the message among the general masses the importance of sanitation.  She added that JMC shall continue with such sanitation drives wherein other iconic spots of the city shall be undertaken for sanitation and better upkeep.

She further stated that JMC is providing sanitation in the entire city and putting every possible effort to provide upto mark sanitation in its area of jurisdiction. The aim of launching this special sanitation drive is to take up iconic and heritage places of the city. Directions have already given to the sanitation staff for putting their every possible effort for providing proper sanitation to the citizens of the Jammu City, as the aim for launching this speical sanitation drive is to ensure higher cleanliness at the door steps.

The Commissioner appealed to the people to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation and use identified places for disposal of garbage. She also stressed to avoid use of polythene to the extent possible which is the major cause of blockage of drains and nallahs. She stressed for putting every possible efforts in achieving goal of making city Jammu Clean & Green and aim of Swachh Bharat Mission.
