In a hostel room of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32 of Chandigarh, a 21 year old Kashmiri man Amir Hassan was found dead. He was a native of Bomai area at Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir and was pursuing BSc Nursing from GMCH.
Two of his friends found his body around 12 am and later Amir’s family took the body to their native place on Sunday for last rites. But the suspicious death of Amir has raised various questions and his family members suspect foul play. His family members last spoke to him between 10.30 pm and 11 pm on June 25.
SHO PS 34 Jaskaran Singh informed that as per the initial investigations it was found that the victim had fever though he tested negative for Covid-19. “Till now there has been no indication of foul play. After the postmortem, the body was handed to the family”, said Singh.
A cousin of the victim, Javed said that they want a deep investigation into the matter since Amir was found lying dead on the bed with his books open on a table and his ears and eyes were swollen. Further he questioned and claimed that the police report also states that it is an unnatural death then why investigation is not being done?
The family also raised questions about the presence of Amir’s seniors in the hostel premises even though they have already passed the college.
