Dr Bhupinder Singh who is the senior member of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and also president of Jammu and Kashmir Dental Council today said that killings of minority Sikhs in Pakistan is barbaric and unfortunate.

Two Sikh men were shot dead in Peshawar city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan Sunday. The local Sikh community identified the deceased as shopkeepers Ranjit Singh, 42, and Kuljeet Singh, 38. They were sitting at their shops at Batta Tal Chowk in Sarband area when two unidentified men arrived on a motorbike and opened fire.

In a statement released to the media, Dr Bhupinder Singh said that Pakistan has become a living hell for the minorities including Sikhs and Hindus who are targeted on daily basis without any fault of theirs.

He appealed to the Government of India to take up the matter in the United Nations so that the Sikhs living in the Islamic country can have their say. “It looks like there is no rule of law in Pakistan where members of Sikh community are killed by terrorists anytime. This is not the first time that such an incident has taken place and Sikhs have been murdered even in the past by gun wielding terrorists”.

Dr Bhupinder Singh who has even earlier raised the voice for Sikhs living across the globe said that Pakistan government should also act against such terrorists who killed the two innocent Sikh traders. “Sikhs whether living in India or Pakistan work for the society and never indulge in hate crime. They live for the betterment of the society and such a fate meted out to them at the hands of terrorists is not acceptable” said Dr Singh.

Dr Singh also appealed to the Government of India to provide safe passage to those Sikhs living in Pakistan and wanting to settle in India.
