Ladakhis to get a strong mobile signal in coming days

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel said it has upgraded its mobile network in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh so that best network delivery can be made available to its customers.

In a statement the company said that Airtel has placed additional 30 MHz spectrum in the 1800/2300 MHz bands along with advanced network software tools so that high speed data capacity can be strengthened in its network. Of this, 20 Mhz has been added in the 2300 band and 10 Mhz in 1800 Mhz band.

In a statement it is said that additional spectrum will boost an already superior network for Airtel customers across J&K and Ladakh. “As well as improved availability of network and data speeds along with better coverage inside homes and buildings in urban and rural areas will be ensured”, as per statement.

In the statement it is also mentioned that Airtel will be able to offer wider coverage along highways and rail routes as well as increase footprint in villages as more people access high-speed data services.

Due to the addition of this spectrum, which was acquired during the latest spectrum auctions, Airtel has the largest spectrum bank of 71.2 MHz in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. 

Airtel Hub CEO Upper North, Manu Sood said that with the highest spectrum holding at 71.2 MHz in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Airtel is well placed for meeting the growing demand for high-speed data.

He further said that they always remain engrossed to deliver high class service to their customers and keep investing in new spectrum and network upgrades timely or when their customers need it the most.

Due to pandemic online mode of learning and work from home has increased the demand for high speed data. “Airtel’s intervention to build additional capacities will go a long way in helping customers stay connected,” Sood said. 

He further said that Airtel has also deployed advanced network technologies and tools such as pre-5G Massive MIMO, 4G Advanced and Carrier Aggregation for setting up high speed network capacity as well as coverage.

It is pertinent to mention that Airtel has over 5.59 million customers in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and its network covers 91.13 per cent of the population of both the UTs.
