Leh-Manali highway opens for vehicular traffic

The Leh-Manali Highway was formally opened for vehicular movement on Sunday.

Executive Councillor for Agriculture, LAHDC Leh,  Stanzin Chospel; Chief Engineer, Project Himank, BRO, Brig. Arvinder Singh and Chief Engineer, Project Deepak, BRO, Brig. M.S. Baghi, jointly flagged-off 7 oil tankers from Sarchu. 

Speaking on the occasion, EC Chosphel thanked all the BRO officials led by Brig. Arvinder Singh of Project Himank and Brig. M.S Bhagi of Project Deepak for opening the Leh – Manali highway two months earlier compared to last year.

EC Chosphel also stated that this would help uplift the economical activities of Ladakh and, most importantly, prove beneficial for the border regions. He expressed his gratitude to MP Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalso, for taking up the matter with the concerned officials to open the highway at the earliest.
