For maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of 15 August celebrations, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has given instructions to agencies for maintaining tight security. Also it has been directed to paramilitary forces in Kashmir to maintain highest vigil while performing duties.

An MHA official said that security agencies should make foolproof arrangements and everyone should be extra alert. He added that no leniency should be shown for terrorists and wherever the information about presence of ultras is there, security forces should take appropriate action.

Other official in the MHA said that security agencies have been keeping a check in the markets, outside religious places and several busy places.

As per reports, to keep a close watch on anti social elements, security forces have been directed by MHA and Defence Ministry in J&K Union Territory. Also, high security check on International Border and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch and Baramulla, Kupawara and other districts of the Union territory have also been put in place.

There may be attempts of militants at launch pads on the other side of the LoC to enter this side thus extra alertness and corrective measures are required.
