In a press conference Power Employees and Engineers Coordination Committee (PEECC) kept their demands and announced that a protest will be staged by Power employees on September 15. The protest will be done by Power employees across the UT by wearing black badges.

Sachin Tickoo, general secretary of The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) and convener PEECC Jammu had strongly expressed the difficulties that the current sitting Managing Directors/Chief Engineers/Superintending Engineers are all Assistant Engineers and most of the sitting Executive Engineers are Junior Engineers in substantive capacity and are only officiating the higher assignments in –charge capacity with no emoluments of the higher positions.

Sachin said that there has been no regularization in Power Development Department (PDD) since 2001.

He further added that there is a backlog of 200 retired Engineers whose proposals had been sent to the establishment committee in the first instance, ultimately which has been returned with observations on account of non-availability of fresh vigilance clearances in respect of these retirees who have retired as early as 2001. He further said that the process of regularization had been directed by SAC to be completed within two months from 22.10.2019 but nothing happened as such.

Jaipal Sharma, president DEA and chairman PEECC Jammu said that for Gazetted Engineers serving in different departments in J&K there is no surety of career development. Sharma further said that Fixed Travel allowance in favour of Junior Engineers is Rs 30 per month which was fixed some 40 years back and despite of bringing this matter to the administration no heed was paid.
