Randeep Hooda removed as ambassador of UN Treaty after actor’s joke on Mayawati

Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda has been removed as the ambassador of the Convention for the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) an environmental treaty of the United Nations, said its secretariat, in a statement. This happened after an old video clip of Randeep Hooda, making a ‘sexist’ and ‘casteist’ joke on politician Mayawati went viral.

Even ‘Arrest Randeep Hooda’ has started trending on Twitter and the actor is getting slammed on social media even netizens have been demanding an apology from him.

The CMS Secretariat said that recently it had become aware of a video clip and found out the comments made in the video to be offensive. It said that they “did not reflect the values” of the CMS Secretariat or the United Nations.

The clip from an event organised by a media house in 2012 resurfaced when a Twitter user shared it. The video has Randeep cracking a joke and then laughing along with the audience. The video clip resurfaced on Twitter  has created an agitation on social media. The video did not go down well with a section of netizens who have called the actor’s behaviour “casteist” and “sexist”.

The actor is facing a lot of criticism, both on and off the internet, with many people asking him to apologise for his remarks. Actor Randeep Hooda hasn’t reacted or issued any statement regarding the video yet.

On the work front, Randeep Hooda was last seen in ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’, starring Salman Khan and Disha Patani. He played the antagonist in the Eig biggie, also starring Disha Patani and Jackie Shroff. The Prabhu Deva directorial released on May 13. The actor will be next seen in the web series Inspector Avinash and his war against crime in Uttar Pradesh . The cop thriller also features Urvashi Rautela, Freddy Daruwala, Govind Namdev, Adhyayan Suman, Amit Sial, Priyanka Bose and Abhimanyu Singh.
