The Union Government is planning to privatize electricity department in Jammu and Kashmir and some other Union Territories.
As per an office memorandum of the Union Ministry of Power a meeting in regard is scheduled on May 28 evening through virtual platform where the possibility of privatization of electricity department in J&K will be discussed.
The office memorandum states that the meeting will not only discuss privatization of the department but also roll out of the smart meters in the UT. It has been learnt that the Prime Minister Office (PMO) has asked the Ministry of Power to look into the successful roll out smart meters in J&K.
