Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Twitter denied him access to his account for almost an hour today on the grounds that there was a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of the USA. He said that he was even not informed before his account was blocked though his access was later restored.

“Friends! Something highly peculiar happened today. Twitter denied access to my account for almost an hour on the alleged ground that there was a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of the USA and subsequently they allowed me to access the account,” Prasad said.

A screenshot was shared by the Union minister in which Twitter informed that his account has been locked following a complaint Digital Millennium Copyright Act Notice for content posted on his account.

Granting Prasad access to his account, Twitter warned that his account would be locked again and if any further notices are received the account will be potentially suspended.

Prasad said it is clearly visible why Twitter is refusing to comply with the guidelines. He added it is because if Twitter does comply, it would not be able to randomly deny access to an individual’s account which does not suit its agenda.
