Whats cooking? Behind the RSS leader Ram Madhav’s visit to Kashmir

People were surprised to see former BJP leader and central executive member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Ram Madhav in Kashmir without any previous announcement. An element of surprise is also derived from the fact that he has been exempt from J&K’s affairs.

He has been relieved from BJP and re-inducted into RSS. He is visiting Srinagar on a purely personal visit. A Kashmir based news agency reported that he is expected to meet Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and other senior leaders affiliated with various political parties of J&K with whom he formed personal connections during PDP-BJP government formation.

Sources claimed that no Jammu based BJP leaders was informed of this surprise personal visit of Ram Madhav as he did not tell about his programme to any leader. After leaving BJP, Ram Madhav is said to be working on a non-political front. Experts believe that this visit aims to attract some Kashmir based politicians into mainstream politics.

Earlier RSS has asked Ram Madhav to step down from BJP and appointed him as a member of its central executive council.

BJP gave Madhav responsibility to manage sensitive Union Territory (UT) of J&K which used to be a state before August 5, 2019. Madhav was appointed to BJP in 2014 and was made an in-charge of sensitive regions like J&K and North East.
