Senior Consultant Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI, Dr. Jupaka Madhavi and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Rajni Sharma today inaugurated a “SAKHI” One-Stop Service Centre for women, here at district headquarter.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jupaka Madhavi informed that the Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing a scheme for setting up One Stop Centres since April, 1, 2015, to support women affected by violence.
The scheme aims to facilitate access to an integrated range of services, including medical aid, police assistance and legal aid or case management, psycho-social counselling and temporary support services to women affected by violence, she added.
Dr. Jupaka further said that under the scheme, it has been envisaged that One Stop Centre would be set up across the country at district level in a phased manner.
Out of the total 733 districts in India, 688 such Centres have been made functional in the country including 11 in J&K under Nirbhaya Fund. She said such Centers would also be opened in other districts soon.
The ASP said that the police department has strongly dealt the cases of violence and exploitation against women and children. This centre would support the victims and Ramban police lays emphasis on women’s safety and security, she said.
