In a major decision, Municipal Corporation of Jammu has passed a resolution banning all kind of animal slaughter and sale of meat and chicken in the city during Hindu festival of Navratras.
The festival will begin from April 13. 75 councillors of Municipal Corporation Jammu passed a resolution in a two day session stating that Jammu is a city of temples and a large number of devotees visit these religious places in different parts of the city.
Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta said that strict implementation of the orders will be ensured and any meat shop violating the order will be dealt with sternly. “All meat shops will remain closed in Jammu for a period of nine days” the Mayor said.
