Secretary tourism appeals film fraternity to renew its decade old romance with J&K

Secretary of tourism & culture, Sarmad Hafeez made an appeal to the film industry of the country to once again begin with film shooting in Jammu and Kashmir.

In an official statement he pitched to make Union Territory as the premier shooting destination of India. He appealed to the film fraternity to renew the decade old romance with J&K.

In the national level Film Tourism symposium which was organized jointly by the Ministries of Tourism & Information & Broadcasting, the Tourism Secretary expressed in detail about the long and old relationship of Jammu & Kashmir with Bollywood and other film platforms of the country.

He urged the film members of the world to take a step forward and start re visiting J&K in good numbers for film shooting once again.

Sarmad Hafeez said that in order to encourage the film shooting and production recently the government conducted a comprehensive Film Policy. He further gave a detailed presentation about the Film Policy and expressed the scope for working on film projects in Jammu & Kashmir.

In the event, several Bollywood producers expressed and shared their experiences of Kashmir and assured to provide a support to UT for shooting.

Producer trade associations and Film Chambers of Commerce from across the country participated in the symposium. A delegation of members of the Travel Agents Federation of India showed their interest in several products being offered by Jammu & Kashmir Tourism including MICE and corporate tourism. Several other delegations also met Sarmad Hafeez and enquired about the potential of various segments like adventure tourism, winter sports, spring festivals etc.
