Secretary, Tourism reviews progress of various projects in Ladakh

Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Labour & Employment, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan, who is also the Commissioner, Excise and State Taxes Dept chaired a meeting to review the progress of various projects/works of departments under his charge being executed by the PWD(R&B) Department, Rural Development Department and the Tourism Development Authorities.

The concerned officials gave the Secretary a detailed report on the physical and financial progress of various projects. The officials also apprised the Secretary about the impediments in the execution of few projects. In the meeting, the status of the projects under execution by M&W Wing of the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, Govt. of J & K was also discussed.

Secretary, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan stated that the projects should be completed within the stipulated time frame. He directed the concerned officials to expedite the installation of signages with uniform designs and retro-reflectors along all major tourist routes.

The Secretary directed all the HoDs and the Executing Agencies to submit a status report regarding all projects of their respective departments, which should include physical and financial achievement project-wise and scheme-wise.

The meeting was attended by Director, Tourism Department, Ladakh; Chief Executive Officer, Leh/Kargil/Zanskar Tourism Authority; Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B), Leh/Kargil along with concerned Executive Engineers, AEEs/AEs; Executive Engineer, Leh/Kargil/Zanskar Tourism Authority along with concerned AEEs/AES; Executive Engineer, Rural Development Department, Leh/Kargil along with concerned AEEs/AES; Deputy Director, Employment Department, Leh/Kargil; Deputy Secretary, Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Leh/Kargil; Assistant Labour Commissioner, Leh/Kargil; Assistant Director, Tourism Department, Leh/Kargil; Registering Officer, Antiquities, Leh; District Librarian, Kargil and other concerned officials.

Earlier on November 21, the Secretary reviewed the status of progress on the proposed development of Model Border Villages along the LAC in eastern Ladakh with Officers from the 14 Corps Headquarter; Director, Tourism; and CEO, Leh Development Authority. He requested the officers present to expedite the finalisation of the proposals.
