Six years after escape absconder arrested by Sainik Colony Police
In a significant breakthrough, a team of Police Post Sainik Colony, Police Station Channi Himmat, has arrested an accused who had escaped from police custody and remained absconding for nearly six years.
The arrested accused has been identified as Tousef Ahmed S/o Mohd. Sadiq, R/o Talwara, Reasi. He was originally wanted in Case FIR No. 48/2019 under Sections 376/366/109 RPC.
During the course of proceedings, the accused escaped from lawful custody, following which Case FIR No. 68/2019 under Sections 223/224 RPC (escape from custody and resistance to lawful apprehension) was registered against him at Police Station Channi Himmat.
Since his escape, the accused had gone to great lengths to evade arrest — allegedly concealing his true identity and using a fake identity card under the assumed name “Mohd. Sahil S/o Liaqat Ali, R/o Talwara, Reasi” to mislead law enforcement agencies.
Acting on credible and specific information, and through sustained surveillance and investigation, a dedicated police team of Police Post Sainik Colony traced the accused’s whereabouts and effected his arrest. Upon completion of requisite legal formalities, the accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court for further judicial proceedings.
This arrest reflects the continued commitment of Jammu Police in ensuring that no offender — however long they evade the law — escapes the process of justice, Police said.
