Only special train from Delhi to Jammu to start tomorrow

After the Ministry of Railways decided to run special trains from New Delhi to different cities of the country, residents of Jammu who are stuck in the national capital have also taken a sign of relief.

There are thousands of residents of Jammu and Kashmir who had come to the national capital when a nationwide lockdown was imposed in the country. All those belonging to the UT were stuck wherever they were. Although the UT had started a bringing its stranded in neighboring states but many of the residents were still stuck in New Delhi.

However an AC train from New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) started by the Ministry of Railways will soon start bringing such stranded passengers to their homes in Jammu. The train would start its journey at 9.10 pm and reach Jammu at 5.45 am.

The first run of the New Delhi – Jammu will be on May 13 whereas the train from Jammu to Delhi will start from May 14. The train would stop at Ludhiana, Pathankot and Kathua. This will be the first train that would chug from New Delhi to Jammu since March when the lockdown was imposed in the country.

The booking of tickets started on May 11 online at 6 pm. The website of Ministry of Railways had initially crashed due to a large number of people logging in to book a ticket.

As per an order by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, all passengers who would be coming to the Jammu railway station would be put in an administrative quarantine till their tests are obtained by the medical teams and these tests need to be negative for the passengers to proceed towards their homes.

It is pertinent to mention here that only those passengers who would agree to undergo screening and thereafter medical tests will be allowed to board the trains from New Delhi.

Only the patients who are asymptomatic and confirmed ticket holders will be allowed to enter inside the railway station and board the trains.
