Srinagar : A suspected explosive device was discovered in a bag along the Handwara-Baramulla highway near the forest office in Langate here today .
Locals spotted the unattended bag and promptly alerted the authorities. A bomb disposal squad was immediately dispatched to the scene. The device was successfully defused without causing any casualties or damage.
The incident led to temporary traffic disruptions on the highway. However, normal traffic resumed after the area was declared safe by the security personnel.Further investigations are underway to ascertain the origin and intended target of the device.
