Jammu :- As the winter chill sets in Jammu and Kashmir, a welcome relief has come in the form of declining dengue cases. While the Union Territory has reported a significant number of cases this year, with 6,822 infections and one fatality, the downward trend in recent weeks is a positive development.
Jammu district bore the brunt of the dengue outbreak, accounting for over 4,000 cases. However, with the decreasing temperature, the mosquito population, the primary carrier of the dengue virus, has also diminished, leading to a reduction in transmission. While the decline is encouraging, experts caution against complacency.
They emphasize the importance of continued vigilance and preventive measures, especially in the absence of a specific dengue vaccine.Individuals are advised to take proactive steps to protect themselves from mosquito bites, such as using mosquito repellents, wearing protective clothing, and ensuring proper disposal of stagnant water sources.
By adopting these preventive measures and seeking timely medical attention, people can significantly reduce their risk of dengue infection and contribute to the overall control of the disease.
