An emergent meeting of “All J&K Plus Two Lecturers’ Forum” was held under the Chairmanship of its  President Deepak Sharma through virtual mode wherein he urged Lt. Governor J&K, Manoj Sinha to grant  Option to Work from Home in respect of whole teaching community including 10+2 lectutrers and fifty percent attendance roster for all other government employees of UT of Jammu and Kashmir in view of rapid surge into Corona positive cases and to break the chain and control the further spread of Corona virus.

Deepak Sharma said that it is appreciable that government is keeping a close watch and taking appropriate measures and decisions from time to time for containment of Covid-19 pandemic but it is not appropriate to call teachers to educational institutions  when these are closed for face to face class work for students. If online classes can be attended by students from their homes, same can be imparted by teachers online from their respective homes. He urged Lt.  Governor to grant option to Work from Home to whole teaching community and 50 percent attendance  in favour of all other government employees of J&K.

“The virus is spreading rapidly as of now. Under such circumstances, teachers should not be asked to risk their lives by physically attending school as all work can be taken care of from home.” He further added that the teachers are putting even their family members’ lives at risk by going to school, at such a time.

He further said that the teaching community including Plus Two Lecturers have never shirked away from any assignment given to them and always remained at forefront  in shouldering any responsibility assigned by the government be it during regular or Disaster times like Nodal Officers and assistants at various Quarantine Centres and various entry points of travellers, magisterial duties, door to door Survey of Covid-19 related cases, vaccination process, election duties or census survey and will always remain at the beck and call of the Government to perform any duty in case of any exigency.

Syed Fayaz, President Kashmir also said that though schools are closed for winter vacations in Kashmir and winter Zone areas of Jammu but it would be right decision to allow teachers to work from homes in Summer Zone areas of Jammu to arrest the further spread of virus.

Forum also hailed the LG administration in General and Secretary, School Education Department, BK Singh in particular for resolving so many issues pertaining to Plus Two Lecturers including regularisation and promotion of incharge Principals and senior Lecturers respectively and placement of senior lecturers and further demanded the promotion of CEOs and equivalents and Principals thereby paving way for an additional list of senior Lecturers as per one-third quota of senior Lecturers as per SRO 481.

Forum also stressed upon the government to expedite the process of sanction of ACP / Time Bound Promotion in favour of Plus Two Lecturers and regularisation of all incharge Lecturers to streamline the department and address the other pending issues on priority. Proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Vice president Anil Sharma and technical coordination was provided by District President Jammu Vijay Verma.
