Tehsildar thrashed during anti-encroachment drive, inquiry ordered

The district administration Rajouri on Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the incident of attack on Tehsildar Sunderbani by some local residents just before launch of an anti-encroachment drive in the town,   

Pertinently, during a recent visit to Sunderbani, Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal was apprised about the problem of road congestion on Sub District Hospital road due to encroachment.

 The Deputy Commissioner had ordered Revenue authorities to look into the matter and clear the encroachment.

“On Wednesday, when Sunderbani administration was going to launch an anti encroachment drive   some people reached residence of Tehsildar Sunderbani and entered into verbal dual with him and tried to pressurise the officer to shun the plan of this drive, ” said ADC Sunderbani.

He further said that when the Tehsildar refused to budge, these people assaulted him and he got injured. He was taken to sub district hospital Sunderbani and then referred to Jammu GMC.

Meanwhile, soon after the incident, district administration Rajouri swung into action and launched the already scheduled anti encroachment drive and  retrieved ten Marla  prime land located in the heart of the Sunderbani town.

The drive was conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vinod Behnal in the presence of police authorities.
