Terror financier arrested by SIA J&K was also held by Mumbai police for spying

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) today arrested an accused in terror funding case from Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi who returned from Dubai.

The accused has been identified as Farooq Ahmed Naikoo alias Farooq Tendulkar a resident of Baramulla who is involved in case FIR No. 73/2022 of P/S Gandhi Nagar Jammu (now under investigation with State Investigation Agency, Jammu).

Former minister Jatinder Singh alias Babu Singh is already under arrest in the case.

The name of Farooq Ahmed Naikoo has figured in various terror financing transactions during investigation of the instant case and further investigation regarding his role/involvement is being carried out by State Investigation Agency.

Interestingly Farooq was also arrested by Mumbai police in 2013 after suspicion that he was spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.

Intelligence agencies at that time had found that Naikoo had been in touch with his Pakistani handler through email, under the cover of working for an export-import firm dealing in dry fruits/ spices in Mumbai.

As per sources in Intelligence Bureau it found that on the directions of his Pakistani handler, Naikoo had passed on a list of high value targets to Hizbul Mujahiden through e-mail.

Naikoo also passed on information regarding vital and strategic army and civil installations in Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistani agencies and terror organizations. He worked as a commission agent for dry fruit with a local Mumbai based man. Naikoo started dry fruit business from LOC and then headed to Mumbai for better business opportunities in same business. He later went to Dubai.
