The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police today issued an advisory for visitors, yatries, and truck traffic to warn travellers about travel timings and restrictions for NH-44 during the Shri Amarnath ji Yatra-2022.

According to a notification from J&K’s IGP Traffic Police Vikramjit Singh, empty tankers and vehicles with up to 10 tyres must travel to Jammu through Mughal Road.

Trucks with up to 10 tyres that are fully laden, particularly those carrying freshly perishable goods, should take the Mughal Road in the direction of Jammu.

In addition, the hours of Mughal Road have been extended from 7 am to 4 pm, subject to the daily evaluation by the traffic authority.

The notice further said that vehicles with more than 10 tyres must go through National Highway-44 for movement.

Fresh perishable goods-loaded trucks should arrive at Jakheni Naka or Qazigund Naka before 2pm. These vehicles must be parked separately and given precedence when the traffic is freed, the advisory mentioned.

It stated that travellers who are not part of Yatra Convoys are urged to only travel in the Kashmir Valley between the hours of 7am and 6pm and must organize their trips beforehand to ensure that they get at their destinations within this period of time.

The traffic warning also said that if Yatries or Tourists do not get at their destination by the allotted time, that is by 6 p.m., the security personnel will force them to stop for the night at the closest lodging facility.
