Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders have leveled allegations on the work system persisting in Jammu and Kashmir.
A BJP councillor was shot dead in an attack by militants on June 2 in South Kashmir’s Tral.
This incident raised many questions on security and performance of J&K Government. If the life of a democratically elected representative is not safe what can be done about the safety of common people, said a BJP leader.
Rakesh Pandita, who was the municipal chairman of Tral in Pulwama district who stayed at a government accommodation under security in Srinagar due to militant threat was assigned two Personal Security Officers (PSOs). He went to visit his friend when three terrorists shot him dead. Police said Pandita did not take his security officials along.
BJP general secretary, Ashok Koul said that though we agree that he was without PSOs but what were the security agencies doing? “They should have been aware of three terrorists roaming in the area. This is the error in the working and security system of the government in J&K” Koul said.
Though the police are not agreeing to any mistake in the security system. The police said even though the councilor was provided two personal security officers and accommodation, Rakesh had preferred to visit Tral without the PSOs.
Not only the security system but BJP alleges about the management and the way the government is working in these times. BJP’s Kashmir Media In-charge and youth leader Manzoor Bhat said that people have doubts regarding lockdown. He makes a request to LG administration either to impose a strict lockdown or lift all restrictions in Kashmir.
He further added that no rules and regulations are being properly followed and guidelines for Covid-19 are being violated. “Lockdown is just narrowed down to closing of shops” he said.
Senior BJP leader and former Speaker Kavinder Gupta said that bureaucrats were running Jammu and Kashmir. “Improvement in the system will only come once BJP comes to power”.
