Will the protesting class 10 JKBOSE students get mass promotion?

A strong protest was staged on Tuesday in Jammu city by around 200 students of class 10 for mass promotion who had been declared failed by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE).

Officials said that the agitating students gathered at the Jewel chowk area and marched to Tawi bridge and blocked it for over an hour.

It was claimed by students that they had been assured mass promotion but were declared failed. Students also claimed that their answer sheets have not been evaluated in a proper manner.

Police informed that many of the students were detained as they clashed with police officials.

The results for class 10 for the summer zone Jammu division were declared on June 29. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the exams were not conducted.

Criteria considered for class 10th for examination was that average will be calculated for the marks obtained by candidates in English and Social Science exams which were conducted including the Internal Assessment.

Then on the basis of average percentage of marks obtained, marks shall be allotted in the language paper (Hindi/Urdu). Then, average of the marks in best of the two papers, out of the three subjects which are English, SST, Hindi/Urdu shall be given in Science and then average of marks in best of two papers out of four subjects shall be allotted in Mathematics.
