The 109 years old iconic temple in Gulmarg was gutted in a mysterious fire early morning on Wednesday.
The temple is also known as Rani Temple and has featured in several Bollywood movies.
Local residents and police personnel tried to douse the fire that broke out around 3.45 am. Authorities have ordered an enquiry into the incident.
The Shiva temple was built in 1915 by Maharani Mohini Bai Sisodia.
The temple was renovated by the local stationed battalion of the Army in 2021. It was reopened for public on June 2, 2021.
The temple featured in the super-hit Bollywood songs ‘Jai Jai Shiv Shankar’ of the Aap Ki Kasam movie.
