Election Commission has moved the date of publishing the final electoral roll in Jammu and Kashmir from October 31 to November 25, 2022. The new development indicates that elections in Jammu and Kashmir may not be held this year.
EC earlier informed that the final electoral rolls of Jammu and Kashmir would be published on October 31. But now the Election Commission revised the schedule of Special Summary Revision in J&K with November 25 as final date for publication of Electoral Rolls while draft rolls will be published on September 15.
As per reports, political observers viewed that with November 25 as date for final publication of Electoral Rolls whatever the possibility of holding Assembly elections in J&K this year has almost ended and nearest months for holding elections could be April-May 2023.
