Five mesmerizing valleys in Kashmir that are a must-visit

Surrounded by mesmerizing mountain slopes, huge waterfalls, snow covered mountains, breathtaking scenic views, walking trails and what not, Kashmir has it all. Kashmir in its lap has lush green valley blooming with flowers and crystal clear water which is definitely mesmerizing for eyes. Kashmir has many beautiful valleys which one must visit when they are Kashmir.

Five of such beautiful valleys are-

Betaab valley-

This valley has got its name from the film ‘Betaab’ having actors Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh.  The name of the valley probably comes from the famous movie called ‘Betaab’ that was shot here.  The valley lies to the northeast of Pahalgam, in the middle of Pahalgam and Chandanwadi, and is characterised by lush green meadows and snow clad mountains. Tourists often enjoy the natural beauty and the crystal-clear water of the Baisaran and Tulian lakes.

Poonch valley-

Poonch Valley is highly popular among tourists around the world. It is bordered by the Pir Panjal range of mountains, the valley has in its lap green meadows, beautiful natural lakes, and alpine mountains. It is a home to waterfalls and seven lakes.

 Gulmarg valley-

This valley is very famous among tourists because of the several adventure sports activities that one can engage in. Gulmarg valley is synonymous with mesmerizing views of the best nature has to offer. The valley has now developed into a pivotal location spot for gondolas and skiing. It hosts two major skiing events each year, during the festivities of Easter and Christmas.

Sonamarg valley-

This valley is roughly translated into ‘The valley of gold’ and it is because of the blooming flowers this valley has in its lap every spring. It has snow-covered mountains which are set against a spectacular blue sky. The Sindh River flows through the valley and brings the vegetation.  One can enjoy trekking in this area, especially to the Thajiwas glacier.

Gurez valley-

It is located at a high altitude of around 2400m and at a distance of 123 Km from Srinagar. Situated high in the Himalayas, the valley is known for its turquoise blue rivers, forests and green meadows. Surrounded by snow-coated mountains and flaunting a sparkling view of the Kishanganga river, Gurez valley in Kashmir is counted by many trekkers and backpackers as one of the most amazing places to see in Kashmir.
