Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist arrested in Jammu and Kashmir

A Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorist has been arrested from the Androosa Khrew area of Awantipora in Kashmir by police on Thursday.

According to a statement released by the Awantipora police, 50 RR Unit of the Indian Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint cordon and search operation in the Androosa Khrew area of the police district Awantipora.

Statement read that there was some suspicious movement was noticed by the joint forces in the orchard area. Further the statement read that joint forces noticed a suspected person who was trying to escape but alert operation parties overpowered the suspect and arrested him.

As per police, the apprehended terrorist identified himself as Shahid Ahmed Khanday, a resident of Mandakpal village in Khrew. Khanday worked as an active terrorist for the terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen and incriminating materials such as arms and ammunition have been recovered.

Recently in August, two more terrorists affiliated with the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit were killed in an encounter in the same locality, Awantipora.
