Light rain and thunderstorm tomorrow in J&K: MeT

Even though the minimum temperature increased and settled above average at most locations in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, meteorologists predicted isolated to scattered light rain and thunderstorm in the upcoming 24 hours.

Srinagar reported a low of 19.6°C, compared to 18.0°C the night before. The MeT official reported that the temperature was 1.2°C higher than average for the summer capital at this time of year.

In comparison to the previous night’s low of 16.6°C, Qazigund reported a minimum of 18.6°C. He stated that the gateway town of Kashmir had a temperature 1.9°C above average.

In Pahalgam, the temperature settled at 15.4°C which was 2.9°C higher than average for the south Kashmir resort, compared to 12.4°C the previous night.

Kokernag registered a low of 17.8°C, which was 1.8°C warmer than the previous night’s minimum of 15.2°C.

A low of 11.5°C was recorded in the Gulmarg resort, which was 0.6°C warmer than average. According to the official, Kupwara town recorded a low of 16.3°C, the same as the previous night, which was 0.7°C below average for the area at this time of year.

Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 26.3°C as opposed to 24.9°C the night before. He stated it was 1.3°C warmer than usual for the wintertime capital of J&K. According to the official, the lowest temperatures were 19.2°C in Banihal, 19.7°C in Batote, 24.4°C in Katra, and 19.7°C in Bhadarwah.
