Mehbooba, Omar accuse BJP government of empowering proxies in Kashmir

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah are on same page in accusing the BJP government of empowering the proxies in Jammu and Kashmir in a bid to defeat the two regional parties in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

They were reacting to Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement in an interview against the dynastic parties of J&K.

Mehbooba on Thursday alleged BJP government of empowering proxies in Jammu and Kashmir, saying “The saffron party does not want voice of Kashmiris to reach the Parliament”.

Talking to reporters in Anantnag, Mehbooba alleged that the “BJP wants to finish the voice of PDP. Now people of Jammu and Kashmir have only voting right to seek what they want. Late Vajpayee Ji had restored peoples trust by holding free and fair elections in Kashmir, but the current dispensation at the centre is trying to temper with it, while empowering proxies in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Jammu and Kashmir.”

National Conference (NC) vice-president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah said that the “BJP has no problem with ‘parivarvaad’ parties. They have come into coalition with Chirag Paswan in Bihar. BJP leaders also met Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackrey who is also a dynast”. “Problem of BJP was only with those parties that oppose them”.

Slamming the BJP government, Omar had yesterday alleged that New Delhi is again using its full might to defeat the NC in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. However, NC is fully geared up for the polls and is hopeful that the party will win all three Lok Sabha seats of the Kashmir valley like it did in 2019.

The B and C teams of BJP are on the same page and are executing plans against our party, he added.
