While the debates were going on about the India’s 15 member squad for the T20 World Cup 2021, Mahendra Singh Dhoni came up as a surprise to everyone. Yes, MS dhoni is back but as a mentor for the team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a big announcement of giving the mentor’s role to MS Dhoni. The board made this announcement along with the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be held from October 17 to November 14.

Dhoni had retired from international cricket on August 15 last year. He is still an active player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and continues to lead the Chennai Super Kings side.

Dhoni will now be guiding the team as a mentor in a supporting role to head coach Ravi Shastri. Dhoni is believed to have the sharp decision making skills along with the quick reading of the game’s situation which will definitely prove to be a boon for the team.

Dhoni amazingly led India to not only the 2007 T20 World Cup but also the 2011 World Cup and then the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

This announcement came as a surprise for fans of Dhoni and they shared their emotions and wishes for Dhoni through social media.

The T20 World Cup will take place in UAE and Oman in a total of 4 venues — Muscat, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
