Re-sampling of those people who had come to Jammu on May 14 and May 15 in special trains and lodged in quarantine facility was held on Wednesday morning, leaving social media platforms buzzing with claims that the government lost earlier samples.

People who have been kept in different hotels in Jammu were in morning asked to get ready without being told as to where they were being taken. After some of the people questioned the policemen and government officials who had come to take them to the hospital, it was told that re-sampling was to be conducted.

More than 25 people were taken to Gandhi Nagar Hospital that has been converted into a Covid-19 hospital, in a bus where they had to wait for two hours before their samples were conducted. At least 22 people from Hotel Red Rose near Bus Stand were among others who were taken fro re-sampling.

It is important to note that the samples of these people were earlier collected at the Railway Station Jammu when they reached here on May 14 and 15. The authorities however remained tight-lipped and did not tell as to why re-sampling was being conducted, told one of the person whose sample was collected.

A woman who is among those lodged at a private hotel said that the district administration of Jammu has failed as it was her seventh day in the hotel but there was no end in sight to the wait she has to undergo before her results are out.

Government of Jammu and Kashmir has made it mandatory for everyone coming in special trains from New Delhi and elsewhere to undergo a necessary administrative quarantine till the test results for the Coronavirus are negative.

However now the anger was running high among those in paid and government quarantine centers as the government of J&K has failed to communicate to them the time till they have to remain in these centers.

While the people questioned Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sushma Chauhan regarding delay in test results, she did not reply to their queries. It is important to mention that many protests have taken place in different government quarantine facilities in the recent past where people have complained of inadequate facilities.

People have also questioned the need of administrative quarantine when there were no adequate facilities with the government and asked to provide home quarantine in these circumstances.

No official clarification regarding the issue was made by the government.
