Personnel Ministry announces promotions of over 8,000 govt employees

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister Incharge DoPT (Department of Personnel & Training), who is also the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, today announced mass promotions to more than 8,000 government workers at once. The DoPT (Department of Personnel & Training) carried out the promotions, and the promoted individuals are from three important Central Secretariat Services.

According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, the decision was made in good faith and with the best of intentions since it was depressing to watch government professionals resign from their positions without receiving their justifiable promotions. Out of all the promoted 8,089 employees, 4,734 are from CSS, 2,966 from CSSS and 389 from CSCS.

Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that following numerous high-level meetings in DoPT that he presided over in the previous two months, orders for the mass promotion of these employees from the Central Secretariat Service (CSS), Central Secretariat Stenographers’ Service (CSSS), and Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS) have been issued. Even legal experts, according to the Minister, were heavily contacted because the decision of several orders depended on the resolution of ongoing writ petitions in court.

In order to resolve the matter, Dr. Jitendra Singh also recently met with a number of delegations of Central Secretariat officials on several occasions. In his opinion, the three services—CSS, CSSS, and CSCS—form the foundation of the administrative operation of the Central Secretariat.

Dr. Jitendra Singh also remembered the DoPT’s huge promotions of approximately 4,000 officers in various departments at various levels more than three years ago which had been greatly praised. He noted that several of these promotion orders were also granted awaiting the results of ongoing writ petitions.

According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, the secretariat services are a crucial component of governance since the notes and papers they produce serve as the foundation for government policies as they move through the various tiers of the administrative structure.
