Sad story of linemen in Kashmir who are often left ignored by PDD

Another sob story revolving around in Jammu and Kashmir is of dying lineman but it seems as if Power Development Department has kept its eyes close. There have been repeatedly incidents of lineman which have died on duty but these sad and horrifying stories are going to deaf ears.

In past three months, three linemen have died in Kashmir while performing duties, reportedly. As per reports, on April 9, a casual labourer died after he fell from an electric pole in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district who was identified as 30-year old Mansoor Ahmad, a Casual labour in PDD, was repairing an electric wire at Ajas village of Bandipora when he fell from the pole.
Mansoor was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead.


On January 10, a PDD lineman was injured after he received an electric shock at Adhal Vailoo village of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Earlier on December 24, a Power Development Department daily-wager lineman was electrocuted in Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, succumbing to his injuries. Muhammad Amin, 55, son of Muhammad Azam Awan was injured while repairing a transformer at his native village Kalgi in Uri on December 15.

As per Early Times, PDD officials said that despite repeated reminders their superior was ignoring discussion on such incidents.
