In continuation to its efforts against adulteration of food articles available to the general public, the Drug and Food Control Organization (D&FCO) Kashmir has launched a massive drive against milk adulteration across the valley.

The inspections of milk vendors and the vehicles carrying and distributing milk at the door steps of many homes were conducted and in the process 95 samples of loose and packed milk were lifted in the month of November 2021 and sent to Food Testing laboratory Srinagar for analysis.

Complaints against food business operators who were found violating sanitary and hygienic requirements under Food Safety & Standards Act were also lodged before competent court.

It was informed that the enforcement staff of D&FCO are making all the efforts in curbing the menace of substandard milk being marketed by identifying some specific points on the outskirts of Srinagar city through which the milk is being ferried and distributed to the milk vendors in district Srinagar.
