Srinagar : A brave soldier lost his life in the line of duty following an encounter with terrorists in North Kashmir’s Sopore region. The soldier, who sustained injuries during an ongoing anti-terror operation in the Gujjarpati area of Zaloora, succumbed to his wounds despite medical intervention.

The security operation began on Sunday when joint forces, comprising the Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and local police, launched a coordinated search operation in the area. During their sweep, the forces uncovered a terrorist hideout, which subsequently led to an exchange of fire when terrorists opened fire on the search party.Due to deteriorating light conditions, the operation was temporarily suspended overnight.

Operations resumed at dawn, during which the soldier sustained critical injuries. He was immediately evacuated to a nearby medical facility, where medical teams fought to save his life. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

The encounter, which began late yesterday evening in the Gujjarpati area, remains active as security forces continue their anti-terror operations in the region. The area remains under cordon as the joint security team works to neutralize the threat. Further details about the operation and the identity of the martyred soldier are awaited.
