Various posts lying vacant in Rural Development department in J&K

Rural Development department in Jammu and Kashmir is undergoing major manpower shortage and many posts are lying vacant in the department. In the Baramulla district nearly twelve Block Development Officer (BDO) posts are lying vacant.

Due to vacant posts various programmes of Rural Development Department (RDD) including monitoring of various developmental works under Panchayat Raj system had been badly affected.

As per reports, for 26 blocks of the rural development department in Baramulla district, only 14 block development officers are available.

Moreover, Rural Development Department blocks in Uri region of Kashmir lone BDO is handling five blocks which is affecting the overall functioning of the department.

Block Development Council Uri Chairman, Rafiq Balote said that staff shortage is a major roadblock in the execution of developmental programmes in the area. He said that progress of the work is very slow as there are headless rural development blocks. Further Balote added that people have to face major issues due to delayed works.

Assistant Commissioner Development Baramulla, Yaar Ali Khan, said that the higher ups had been informed about the problem and hopefully issue will be resolved soon.
