As the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has constituted a search committee to find the new Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu (JU), there are speculations that the post may be given to a woman this time.

The process to replace care taker vice chancellor Prof Manoj Dhar with permanent one has been initiated with setting up of a search committee on Wednesday. Now there are speculations that the JU may get a woman VC.

Lobbying for the post of JU VC started as soon as the term of the incumbent VC Prof Manoj Dhar expired in July this year. It has been learnt that a woman academician from Jammu who is presently working outside the UT may be given the responsibility to serve as the VC of JU.

Demand for appointing a local VC for Jammu University has been raised from time to time as the institution has so far seen several non-locals on the top post.
