With Taliban taking over Afghanistan and apprehensions of increased violence in Jammu and Kashmir, army is trying hard to bring back into mainstream the newly recruits in terror organization from Kashmir.

For this army held a conversation and counseling session of around 80 families whose members have joined the terror ranks to initiate their safe return.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar told The Hindu newspaper “We have been providing opportunities to surrender during live encounters [to trapped militants] since the last year. These families whom we met on Tuesday were asked to convince their children [newly-recruited terrorists] to return to mainstream. We made an earnest appeal to them”.

Army and police is ready to provide assistance to those youth who want to join the mainstream. Members of families of ultras were called from Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian, from where nearly 60 % to the total of 88 recruits come.
