Ladakh rolls out rules for entry of tourists, RT-PCR test necessary

A meeting on State Task Force for Covid-19 vaccination was convened by Commissioner Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Rigzin Samphel at the UT Secretariat today.   

The meeting was attended by State Immunisation (NHM); Mission Director (NHM); Director, Health Services; Director, AYUSH; Director, ICDS; Director, Information Department; Director, Education Department; Director, Urban Development Department; Director, Women and Child Development Department, and representatives of Nehru Yuva Kendra. 

Keeping in mind that the tourist season will start soon in Leh, Commissioner Secretary Health directed the officials that the negative RT-PCR report of tourists should be within 96 hours before they arrive in Leh. 

The UT Administration has made it mandatory for tourists arriving in Leh by flights, buses, and personal transport from other states to have a negative RT-PCR certificate not older than 96 hours. 

The Commissioner Secretary also instructed the Department of Tourism to ensure that this information is shared with all the owners of hotels/ guesthouses and camps in both districts of Kargil and Leh.
