No internet connectivity in Govt schools in rural areas of Jammu but teachers asked to visit daily

Even as the cases of Covid-19 are surging by the day in Jammu and Kashmir, government teachers did not get any respite as the Education department has asked them to be regular to schools.

Many cases of Coronavirus infection among the government teachers have already been reported in Jammu but the pleas by teachers seems to be falling on deaf ears.

Teachers rue that while there is no internet connectivity especially in border areas of Jammu division, they have not been given any kind of respite by the UT administration.

“What will happen if I contract Covid-19 infection. I have a daughter and a husband back home. Will the government take our responsibility if something happens to the teachers of government schools?” questioned a woman teacher serving in Samba district.

She said that while the students are allowed to study online from home, they (teachers) have been asked to visit the institutions daily.

J&K government has suspended classwork and asked the students to study online from homes till May 15 owing to the out of control Covid-19 situation.
