Govt authorities ask teachers to attend schools in J&K without students

J&K education department higher officials are calling teachers to visit schools even when there are no classes running. New covid infection cases are increasing with every passing day and health experts are forecasting that a peak in coronavirus cases will be met by April-end and it will start to decrease only after then.

Still, government authorities are not willing to completely shut down schools and call teachers for aesthetic purposes. Government authorities had demanded to close all schools from April 11 till another week as daily covid cases are on a surge.

UT administration passed an order stating that after analysing current situation in the region due to pandemic, they have come to a conclusion to close all schools in UT till 18 April. Even after all schools have been closed still teachers have been directed to attend them in a surprising turn.

This decision of authorities is worrisome considering that some of these teachers were found to be coronavirus positive recently. There are demands that concerned authorities should focus more on asking teachers to give online classes rather than forcing them to attend schools.
