The government informed Lok Sabha on July 19 that the J&K administration has recruited around 30,000 workers in the public sector since 2019.

The Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai claimed that self-employment schemes run by the government from August 2019 to June 2022 have generated employment for around 5.2 lakh individuals. In response to a written query, he stated that the government of Jammu and Kashmir has undertaken recruitment in the public sector from the year 2019 onwards totalling 29,806.

On August 5, 2019, the Article 370 that granted Jammu and Kashmir special status was repealed, and the former state was divided into the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Since 2018, Jammu and Kashmir has been ruled by the central government.
